Third birthday heralds plenty to celebrate for People against Poverty!

We recently celebrated  our 3rd birthday on 27 June with a garden party at Rosewood Manor in Timsbury attended by business and individual supporters, with Bath Rugby legends, Matt Banahan and Leroy Houston spotted amongst the partygoers as well!20140627_183228

We have a steadfast and growing following with both individual supporters as well as businesses through its Business against Poverty (BaP) brand, and this trend looks set to continue.  If good steady growth – especially in the economic climate of the past three years – were not enough, since the party we have secured two additional reasons for celebration. Firstly, we have just been nominated this year’s Charity of the Year 2014-15 by Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce, and on 1 August we will be the charity sponsor at Bath Racecourse’s infamous Cider Racenight featuring racing and a performance by West Country favourites, The Wurzels, in the evening.

wessex-chambers-logoEmma Roberts, Vice President and Chair of Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce stated: “We are delighted to support People against Poverty and its business brand, Business against Poverty, as our Charity of the Year 2014-15. The charity was the clear winner in a vote by our members, who take immense pleasure in seeing a local charity benefit from being the recipient of our fundraising efforts. We very much look forward to seeing PaP’s projects develop over the forthcoming year.”

Jo Hall, Executive Director of Bath Racecourse added: “Bath Racecourse is always Racecoursepleased to support local charities, and we are looking forward to working with People against Poverty at our Cider Racenight. They have fully embraced the fun element as well as the fundraising and commercial aspects of the day, and will have a race named after the charity, as well as on-site bucket collections to which racegoers may well feel inclined to donate a small proportion of their winnings!”
