Our sincerest thanks go to Peter for his total dedication to our work. Peter has been involved with the charity since its inception in 2003 and was one of the very first Businesses to embrace our Business against Poverty membership. Peter is always in the background when it comes to attending events, supporting and sponsoring them and donating high-end prizes for our auction and raffle at our recent Gala Ball. Peter truly embraces his social responsibility not only to ourselves but other local charities and we have seen his business grow from year to year. Congratulations Peter for becoming our Business of the Month for December.
We asked Peter:
What motivates you?
Family, helping people, making a difference in the world and strategic thinking – I love the possibilities and the opportunities available
What is your Business Philosophy?
Work hard and genuinely help people (clients, staff and suppliers). Investigate and plan wherever possible but don’t be crippled by the need to reduce risk – failure can be a good learning process.
Who do you admire the most?
I really admired the late Brian Roper of Roper Rhodes, a great businessman, philanthropist, local champion and all round interesting gentleman. I also admire his wife Margaret for her caring, hard working supportive life attitude. On an international stage I admired Nelson Mandela for his forgiving heart and compassion for others. There are many other people in my life I admire for different reasons and I think for that reason (and many others) I am one of the most blessed people alive! A bit too busy but blessed!!
What would be your advice to anyone wondering if their business could benefit from joining Business against Poverty?
Bill and Val rightly point out that Corporate Social Responsibility is a key factor in building any brand and joining Business against Poverty ticks that box so it’s good for your brand without question! However there is a much deeper richer gain to be had from membership – getting involved in making peoples lives better – making a difference on this planet – that’s good for you!
