Member of the Month – July 2016

Congratulations to a fairly new member Steven Daniels of Just Right Products Ltd (What Knot)  on becoming our Member of the Month.

We asked Steven:

What motivates you? I am motivated by helping others. I have a lot of experience in business mostly good but some not so good, a few bad however every experience has a learning value.  My aim is to try and pass on those experiences. I may have taken a positive out of them but it doesn’t mean everybody has to be taught the same lesson, and some may only ever find the negative and pass that down the line. I get a sense of satisfaction helping others to bypass the obstacles in the business process.

What is your business philosophy? Business should be easy, agree a price, provide the goods or service on time as agreed and get paid on time. Do it again and again.  Couldn’t really be simpler. Sometimes it doesn’t happen like that and at times you may fall down on provision or payment but if everybody trusts each other to do as they say, that they will honour their words, we can all grow.

Who do you admire the most? Funny enough its not a big business giant or guru it was an ordinary man I met in my my first job from leaving school at 16.  One of those lessons I learnt too long after the event was for me to acknowledge that to him. Roy Biggs was his name. Roy was a big guy who had worked hard all his life as a bricklayer and site agent He helped or tried to help anybody, it was in his nature to do so. I guess that’s why helping others motivates me.

What would be your advice to anyone wondering if their business could benefit from joining Business against Poverty?  If you’re thinking of joining Business Against Poverty, it will put you in touch directly with like minded people; honest, ethical and morally decent.  You’re not simply joining a charity, you’re joining a business group that aims to help members, to help others in turn and that’s my philosophy.  It’s somewhere to grow your business as well as your philanthropic ambition, whatever that may be.  It’s all about working together and giving, for you to pass on down the line as and when you can. That’s how I see it and found it to be.
